LAS VEGAS, N.V. -- New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald has made another trade.

On Saturday afternoon, the organization announced that it traded 27-year-old defenseman John Marino and Colorado's 5th-round pick (153rd overall ) to the Utah Hockey Club in exchange for the 49th-overall pick and Edmonton's 2025 2nd-round pick.

With the 49th overall pick, New Jersey selected goaltender Mikhail Yegorov.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 187 pounds, Steven Ellis from Daily Faceoff wrote the following about the netminder, "Scouts still see a ton of potential from the 6-foot-4 keeper. The size helps, but he battles so hard. He never gives up on a play, even with a terrible lineup in front of him. I could see Yegorov being one of the biggest goaltender steals of this draft because he has all the tools needed to succeed but just doesn't have the results."

New Jersey acquired Marino from the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 16, 2022, in exchange for Ty Smith and a third-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Marino played for the Devils for the past two seasons, appearing in 139 games. He concludes his tenure in New Jersey with 43 points (eight goals, 35 assists). Offensively, his numbers improved from the 2022-23 to 2023-24 season, but when asked to evaluate his game this past January, he acknowledged that it was inconsistent.

The North Easton, Massachusetts native is under contract until the 2026-27 season with a cap hit of $4,400,000. His eight-team 'no-trade' clause begins on July 1.
