The Line Curtis Lazar Contributed to the Devils 2024-25 Schedule Release Video

The New Jersey Devils 2024-25 schedule release video took the internet by storm.
Dougie Hamilton 's alter ego "Professor Douglas D. Admin" provided a memorable, and dare we say legendary, geography lesson with the help of his teammate, Curtis Lazar .
"I was familiar with Dougie. I mean, everyone loves Doug and his work behind the scenes. He has been doing these schedule drops for a couple of years," Lazar said in a phone interview with The Hockey News . "I was approached, I got the script and the backstory on it. My part was small, so I did what I could. The editing team did an outstanding job bringing it all together, and obviously Dougie stole the show."
The experience perfectly summed up the forward - a character who is always in the background doing something.
Despite playing more of a supporting role, Lazar believes he is ready for his own page on IMDB.
"I think so, yeah," Lazar said. "People always talk to me about being a good speaker and whatnot, but when it comes to acting, it is a little difficult."
It might not have been that difficult for the Salmon Arm native, who jokingly described himself as a "one-take wonder" after filming his parts right away so he could return home to his wife and two sons.
As it turns out, the 29-year-old contributed more to the schedule release video than his on-screen cameo.
"I'd say the one line I actually contributed, which was kind of off the script, was when they were talking about New Jersey, and New Jersey is home of our home opener," Lazar said. "I (thought) it was pretty obvious. They picked it up and ran with that. That was my line that I contributed on the spot."
"And finally, it was a jab or little remark that did not come at Luke Hughes' expense."
Lazar could not say enough about the performance of his teammate and the Devils' social media and editing team who put the video together.
"It is a great exposure for the league. I think more teams are going to start doing that due to the success that we had this year."
The Devils will open the 2024-25 campaign in Prague, Czechia, as part of the 2024 NHL Global Series. The club will kick the season off by playing their former head coach, Lindy Ruff, and the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, Oct. 4.
