Police are searching for a driver and passengers who led state troopers on a high-speed chase and crashed into two police vehicles.

The incident began Saturday night as troopers were conducting proactive enforcement for groups of vehicles participating in speed exhibitions and takeovers in various shopping centers and along highways in New Castle County.

At University Plaza, east of Newark, troopers found a black Chevrolet Camaro that had been reported stolen from Bridgewater Township, N.J. in June. The troopers initiated a traffic stop, but the driver sped off, driving recklessly on several roads.

During the chase, the driver struck two occupied police vehicles, though neither trooper was injured.

The chase finally ended in Chester, Pa., when the car sustained disabling damage to its front tire. The driver and passengers fled on foot and were able to escape.

Police have not released any description or photos of the suspects.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information regarding this case to contact Sgt. A. Zickgraf by calling 302-365-8403. Information can also be provided by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333 or delaware.crimestoppers.com.
