Justina Teale promoted to Director of Spirit Programs at Newberry College

NEWBERRY – Justina Teale, who has served as head cheerleading coach at Newberry College since 2019, has been promoted to Director of Spirit Programs.
In her new role, Teale will lead and oversee both the Wolves Cheer and Dance teams.
“Coach Teale is a valued leader in our department and her leadership will elevate our Dance Team the same way she has for our Cheer Team.”
Under Teale’s guidance, the cheerleading team has seen enormous success, earning numerous awards and accolades in local and national competitions including the 2021 Canam National Champions DII Intermediate Small Coed.
Teale shared, “I am thrilled to take on this new role as the Director of Spirit Programs. I am excited to continue working with our talented teams and to help elevate our spirit programs to new heights not only as athletes but as well-rounded people. This opportunity is truly a dream come true, and I am grateful for the support and confidence shown from the department as I take on this new role.”
Other achievements include a third-place finish in the 2021NCA College Nationals DII Intermediate Small Coed, second place in the 2022 Canam Nationals DII Intermediate Small Coed and achieving the program’s highest score at NCA College Nationals in the 2023 DII Intermediate Small Coed Division. In 2024 the program debuted their Spirit Rally team at NCA College Nationals for the first time in program history.
She serves as an instructor for over 200 high school and middle school athletes for the Universal Cheerleaders Association, where she focuses on mentoring and enhancing the skills of young athletes across the Southeast.
Before being the Head Coach at Newberry College, she coached at AC Flora High School.
Teale is a 2017 graduate of Lander University where she received the Golden L Award and was inducted into the Hall of Leaders. She earned her Master’s degree in Organizational Development and Leadership from Newberry College in 2022. She was among the first students to receive a graduate degree from the college.
