(FOX40.COM) — A Placer County gun store was the victim of a large-scale burglary on Monday morning, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Starting at 1:20 a.m., the lone burglar bored into the side of the Foothill Firearms building in Newcastle and ran off with 40 to 50 handguns.

No ammunition was stolen with the more than four dozen firearms

The sheriff’s office said the operation took up to two hours after the suspect pulled plywood off the wall and tunneled through the dry wall.

Only one person was captured on camera during the break-in, but the sheriff’s office said there is a possibility of a getaway driver.

Law enforcement currently have no good description of the suspect or a suspect vehicle.
