Football Set For National TV; Faces Montana On ESPN2
FARMINGTON, Utah – UC Davis football takes the national stage when on Nov. 9 the Aggies head to Montana for a Big Sky showdown slatted to be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 as announced on July 19 by the conference. The game is scheduled for a 7:15 p.m. PT kickoff.

The 68th annual Tevis Cup comes back to Auburn this weekend, as 143 riders and their trusted steeds come to the endurance capital in hopes of earning a coveted belt buckle. Riders will begin their journey Saturday morning at Robie Park in Truckee and end at McCann Stadium at the Gold Country Fairgrounds, 100 miles away.

The 9th annual Nursing School Review by RNcareers.org has named Cal State Long Beach’s School of Nursing as the best nursing program in California. RNCareers.org compiled its merit-based rankings by assessing over 1,700 nursing programs. Turlock Man Convicted of Forcible Rape, Faces Up to 8 Years in Prison
A 26-year-old Turlock man, identified as Ivan Garcia Jr., has been convicted on charges of forcible rape after juridical proceedings in Stanislaus County, as reported by the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office. Garcia's conviction stems from a 2020 incident where he broke into an apartment on W. Monte Vista and sexually assaulted the then-sleeping victim.

Therriault Appointed to California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training
Benjamin Therriault, of the City of Martinez, has been appointed to the California Commission of Peace Officer standards and Training by Governor Gavin Newsom. Benjamin Therriault, of Martinez, has been appointed to the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Therriault has been a Police Sergeant at the Richmond Police Department since 2023, where he was a Police Officer from 2009 to 2023. He served as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Air Force from 2001 to 2007. Therriault is President of the Richmond Police Officers Association, Vice President of the Peace Officers Research Association of California and a member of the Peace Officer Standards and Training Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Martinez Civil Service Commission, Martinez Refinery Oversight Commission, Contra Costa 100 Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Center for Youth Development through Law Board of Directors and the Richmond Police Activities League Board of Directors. Therriault earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the University of San Francisco. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Therriault is a Democrat.
California Boys & Girls State Has a Bright Future
This year, the California Boys & Girls State program once again brought 900 rising high school seniors together from across the state to California State University’s Sacramento campus. The 86-year-old American Legion program tasked 16 and 17-year-olds with forming a fully functioning state government within a week. Unlike previous years, however, California Governor Gavin Newsom surprised the delegates to personally swear in the Boys & Girls State’s elected governor.
