University of Wyoming replaces Multicultural Affairs after lawmakers take aim at DEI efforts
The University of Wyoming is replacing its Office of Multicultural Affairs with the Pokes Center for Community Resources, the school’s president announced Thursday. The change — the office has existed at UW for 30 years — comes months after state lawmakers barred Wyoming’s lone four-year public university from spending state dollars on diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. In response to the legislative mandate, the school’s trustees voted in May to close its DEI office and reassign certain staff.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne councilmembers have a firm grasp on next steps for several years-long projects. However, plans for other initiatives are still up in the air. On Wednesday, the Cheyenne City Council reviewed progress on its 2024 project priorities. Councilmembers discussed progress on restoring the Historic Pumphouse, revitalization of steam engines for the 15th Street Railroad Experience, development of trails on the Belvoir Ranch and design work on the Reed Avenue Corridor.
Chase Talich of Central Joins Gillette College for Basketball
Chase Talich rose to the occasion in his senior season in basketball at Cheyenne Central and that effort turned into an opportunity to play for Gillette College in 2024-25. Talich was a big factor in Central's run to the 4A State Championship in 2023-24 and was phenomenal in the State Tournament. He poured in 18 points in the championship game vs. Laramie, 13 in the semi-finals vs. Natrona, and a whopping 27 points on 11-15 shooting in the first round vs. Riverton.
