Newport Takes Over New York City
Four Newport area chefs brought their culinary talents to New York City on July 18 at the James Beard Foundation’s newest concept, Platform by JBF located at Market 57. A night of “Cooking on The Classic Coast” was hosted by Discover Newport and featured four of the region’s 2024 James Beard Foundation semifinalists; Andy Teixeira of Newport Vineyards (Middletown), Basil Yu of Yagi Noodles (Newport), Kevin O’Donnell and William Reitzel of Giusto (Newport), and Peter Carvelli of Foglia (Bristol). The chefs collaborated on a selection of canapes followed by a five course meal, served to a sold out evening of more than 50 guests.
