Westminster Man Jailed for Resisting Arrest and Domestic Violence
In an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Matthew Dillard Fowler, he is accused of assaulting an Oconee County deputy and resisting arrest during a domestic disturbance call on Spy Mountain Road in Westminster Sunday night. Fowler allegedly head-butted and shoulder-checked the deputy after being handcuffed and led to the patrol vehicle. He faces charges of assault on a police officer and domestic violence, with a $5,000 bond for the assault charge and a $2,500 bond for domestic violence. Fowler remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center.
Public Forum with Opioid Task Force Set for Friday
An Oconee County task force dedicated to combating the local opioid epidemic invites the public to a discussion this week on how to improve its efforts. Task force member Jon Holland announced that the public forum, set for 10 a.m. Friday in the Oconee County Council chambers in Walhalla, will focus on discussing community needs as part of a gap analysis. The task force has funds available to address these needs.
