Wolfpit Road and surrounding streets closed due to gas main break in Wilton

Wolfpit Road in Wilton is closed to all vehicles until further notice due to a gas main break, according to the Wilton Police Department.

Police said a construction crew struck an 8-inch Eversource gas line while conducting work on Wolfpit Road near Horseshoe Road.

Officials closed off the area to drivers to ensure public safety until Eversource could arrive and take over repairs.

Range Road is also closed from Wolfpit Road to McFadden Drive. Horseshoe Road is closed from Wolfpit Road to River Road. Pedestrian access is allowed on the roads.

Police said as of Monday at 4 p.m. there was no danger to the students of Miller-Driscoll, which is near the scene.

Officers said the roads will remain closed until Monday evening. They recommend drivers avoid the area due to increased traffic.
