White Plains took time today to honor the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military

Despite the rain, a parade proudly stepped off at Church and Main and made its way to the Rural Cemetery on North Broadway.

The parade culminated in a memorial service at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. For the grand marshal of the parade, White Plains native Jonathon Manzueta, who led today’s events, said it was a deeply gratifying experience.

"This feels good. It’s helping the people I grew up with, helping the city, the community, and that’s what this job is about—building a relationship with the community and trying to make this a safer and happier place," said Jonathon Manzueta, Parade Grand Marshal.
