WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: - Showers expected during the overnight hours. - The risk for rain increases the farther west on Sunday. Some rain could be heavy at times and produce localized flooding. Otherwise expect cloudy skies. - The heavy rain risk remains for Monday morning with some breaks in the afternoon. A final round of rain is possible late Monday into Tuesday. - Wednesday looks incredible and the rest of the upcoming week will be beautiful. - Expect widespread rip currents on Atlantic facing beaches and rough surf. A stiff eastern breeze will bring choppy conditions. - Hurricane Ernesto makes its closest approach on Sunday but will remain more than 500 miles away. Regardless, swells from the storm will bring dangerous conditions through Monday. The combination of rough surf and the full moon, could bring coastal flooding to the usual trouble spots on Sunday night or early Monday - mainly for Atlantic facing communities. - Hurricane Ernesto is not expected to produce direct impacts for the New York City area but coastal flooding from the storm's swells, along with high tide from the full moon, could cause localized coastal flooding on Monday. FORECAST: OVERNIGHT: Showers are likely overnight with lows near 70. SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy skies with a passing downpour, especially west. Breezy from the South/Southeast with winds at 15 to 20 mph.
