Officials: Fuel truck erupts in flames on Monmouth County highway

A fuel truck caught fire Saturday evening on Route 36 South in Middletown, according to officials. Authorities say 28 firefighters from surrounding towns responded to get the flames under control. The Monmouth County Hazardous Materials Unit was called to help with the significant amount of fuel in the truck. Route 36 South was temporarily closed in both directions following the incident.
