Hillsborough Township has launched a pilot program to help combat the opioid crisis – making Narcan available at Town Hall for free. Officials say their goal is to save lives within minutes, an all-hands-on-deck effort between the police department and the municipal alliance. Naloxone, which goes under the brand name Narcan, is a lifesaving medication that rapidly reverses the effects of an overdose. "The opioid crisis has been around a long time and no community is immune to it. All it takes is your township to apply for the money, the money is there. Millions of dollars are in the settlement," said Committeeman Shawn Lipani. Narcan is a small nasal spray that has a button in the middle that can be injected into one nostril. "It blocks the opioids from getting to certain parts of the brain and stops the overdose," said Captain Scott McCarthy. If you or someone you know needs help, you can visit the Hillsborough Township Municipal Building, located at 379 South Branch Road, next to the mayor’s office. "
