Three Newark men were arrested after police say they entered a home in Maplewood, ransacked the residence, then led police on a foot chase across the New Jersey Turnpike. According to Maplewood police, officers responded to a home on Colonial Terrace Saturday morning at approximately 4:40 a.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle. During the course of the investigation, police found that the suspects had entered the home through an unlocked window in the rear of the house. Once inside, police say the men ransacked the home and stole the key fob for a gray, 2023 BMW M8 belonging to the resident. The suspects then left the area in the stolen vehicle, authorities said in a statement. Later that morning, at approximately 11:30 a.m., detectives from the Maplewood Police Department spotted the stolen car on the New Jersey Turnpike and began following it in an unmarked police vehicle. With the assistance of New Jersey State Police, officers conducted a felony stop on the vehicle. At that point, police say the three occupants fled on foot "across the highway" and were ultimately apprehended. Tyshir Stewart, 22, Isaiah Singleton, 22 and Daniel DeLeon, 18 - all of Newark - were arrested. Police say they're facing multiple charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, eluding and receiving stolen property. All three were transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility. "
