BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Kenmore man was arrested Monday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Buffalo earlier that day, Buffalo police announced.

Around 1:30 p.m., officers say they responded to a gun call on the 2600 block of Delaware Avenue and were told that while a Dodge Ram was being repossessed, the registered owner of the truck, 39-year-old Zachery Scott, was trying to remove the vehicle from the tow truck.

When he was unsuccessful, he allegedly pulled a gun on the repossession driver and demanded the truck be released.

Police said officers then responded to the area and the 400 block of Shepard Avenue in Kenmore, where Scott lives, and saw the Dodge Ram on Shepard Ave. They then activated emergency lights and sirens.

Scott allegedly disregarded the lights and sirens and fled at a high rate of speed south, then west. While driving recklessly and violating multiple traffic laws, Scott got on the 190 southbound and then the 198 eastbound, police said.

Shortly before the Grant Street exit, officers said they saw items being thrown out of the passenger side of the vehicle. The Ram stopped and the suspect was then apprehended.

Police said a Ruger EC9S was recovered in the vicinity of the vehicle after they canvassed the area along the 198. Scott has a State of New York Erie County pistol permit and the recovered firearm is registered to him, according to officials.

He was charged with the following:

    • first-degree robbery
    • second-degree reckless endangerment
    • unlawful fleeing of a police officer
    • vehicle traffic law violations for reckless driving, passing a red light, speeding, failure to keep right, and driving left around a traffic island
