Today is cutdown day for the Browns. They had until 4 p.m. to get the roster down to 53 for the regular season. Here are the moves they made to form their initial 53-man roster.

    DT Jowon Briggs

Some of the players cut will soon find themselves on new NFL teams, while others could be back with the Browns on the practice squad if they aren't signed by another team.

The roster cuts to get down to 53 players give an idea of what the Browns unit will look like on Week 1, but it will not be the final roster for the season as the team explores available players who have found themselves cut from their teams, as well as trade options with other teams around the league.

Hines, who is continuing rehab on his knee after tearing his ACL last year, will start the season on the Non-Football Injury/Illness list. Like fellow running back Nick Chubb, Hines will be required to miss the first four games of the season before he's eligible to return.

Neither Hines nor Chubb will count against the Browns' 53-man roster.

Meanwhile, defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. has been placed on the Commissioner's Exempt list to start the season following domestic violence allegations against him. While his fianceè, who filed charges against Hall, recanted some of her complaints, the league continues to investigate the situation.
