ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — For this GRE WHY ROC segment we’re looking at that major announcement for our area this summer — the “Semiconductor Superhighway.”

The trio of Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse was picked as one of 12 regions to receive $40 million from the federal government to start this project years in the making.

It’s expected to help New York lead the way in chip fabrication. Congressman Joe Morelle and Matt Hurlbutt, President and CEO of GRE, stopped by Sunrise to speak with anchor Brennan Somers about what this means for the region.

Learn more about what this project is slated to bring to our area and goals for the future by checking out the rest of this interview in the player on this page.
