ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was awarded $11.7 million in grant funding to enhance and upgrade its crimefighting technologies.

It’s part of a $127 million Law Enforcement Technology grant from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. MCSO received the largest award of the 378 state law enforcement agencies that applied.

According to the MCSO, the funds will be used in four main ways: on the Regional Investigative Operations Center, drones, cameras and license plate readers, and existing technology upgrades.
