ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A new service home is opening in Penfield for people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

It’s all part of the Heritage Christan Services Homes with Heart campaign, thanks to a donation by the Golisano Foundation.

The new home, built on Scribner Road, is the eighth out of a planned twelve in the area.

Officials say the home will help around 400 people over the next 60 years. As the physical needs of residents change, officials say the homes’ settings will be renovated to meet them so they won’t have to move for new methods of care.

The homes are built with resident care in mind, such as wheelchair accessible corridors and walk-in bathrooms.
