ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A notice for folks catching a bus in Henrietta -the town says it has begun talks with RTS to install a shelter at the stop across from Walmart.

There are about 19-hundred bus stops throughout Monroe County but only some of them have covered seating areas.

This is concerning some community members who say the stop along Marketplace Drive gets a lot of foot traffic and isn’t regularly maintained.

RTS officials say as far as regular clean-up goes, they are only responsible for the stops with shelters.

Remaining stops like the one in Henrietta are handled by the town or the property owner. In this case, Henrietta shares the responsibility with Walmart.

Town officials say they are aware of the concerns, and plan to build a sidewalk in the area this fall.

News 8 did ask RTS about a timeline for the installation of a shelter at that stop and the team was told they do not have a specific date, but that it will be sometime after the sidewalk is completed.
