    Webster native killed in the line of duty honored during SU game

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Syracuse University paused Saturday night to remember one of its own; a Webster native and Cleveland Police Officer who was shot and killed July 4 while on duty.

    27-year-old Jamieson Ritter graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School in 2015. He then graduated from Syracuse University in 2019. He later joined the Cleveland Police Department in 2020.

    Saturday night during Syracuse-Georgia Tech halftime show, Ritter’s loved ones watched from the field as his alma mater paid tribute to him. His parents were also granted the university’s Hometown Hero award in his honor.

    SU scholarship memorializes fallen police officer from Webster

    The university is keeping Ritter’s legacy alive through a scholarship called the “Jamieson Ritter Memorial ROTC Scholarship.” Anyone looking to donate to the scholarship fund, can do so here . It will begin rolling out in 2025.
