ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Local law enforcement and members of the Helping Hand Missionary Baptist Church came together for their annual “Bridging the Gap” community get-together Saturday afternoon. The idea, organizers said, is to help improve relations between officers and local residents.

It’s a day of fellowship, food and fun, organizers said, adding that 99% of the resources they had were donated from community members and local organizations. Pastor Donald Stevens with the church said, it’s the church that helps to bridge the gap between community and law enforcement at this event.

From giveaways, bounce houses to free haircuts – there was something for everyone. In attendance were the New York State Police, Rochester Police, FBI as well as several other agencies. The event was hosted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. It was held by the church on Joseph Avenue in Rochester.
