Ramp closure on I-81 South beginning on Wednesday

TOWN OF KIRKWOOD, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The New York State Department of Transportation announced a travel advisory beginning Wednesday as bridge repairs continue in the Town of Kirkwood.

The ramp from westbound Interstate 86/State Route 17 to southbound Interstate 81 at Exit 2 in Kirkwood will be closed weekdays from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. beginning August 14. The ramp is expected to be closed for approximant one week to facilitate an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour using Frances Street, Crescent Drive, U.S. Route 11 South to the Interstate-81/State Route 7 ramp and Conklin-Kirkland Bridge Road to I-81 south.

Construction on this project is weather-dependent and is subject to change.
