VESTAL, NY (WIVT/WBGH) — New information regarding the arrest of the reputed Peruvian gang leader, Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, has been obtained by News 34.

Torres-Navarro, the leader of “Los Killers” was arrested Wednesday, August 14, at around 8:20 p.m. according to Vestal Police. While previous reporting claimed Torres-Navarro and his girlfriend Mishelle Sol Ivanna Ortíz Ubillús were arrested in Endicott, Vestal PD confirmed otherwise.

The couple did live in Endicott according to local law enforcement, specifically on East Franklin Street. The arrest, however, was made in Vestal near the Burlington Coat Factory by ICE and Vestal PD. Vestal PD says the couple was taken in without incident.

Torres-Navarro is wanted in Peru for 23 killings, and Immigration agents claim Ortíz Ubillús acts as his right hand.

“Gianfranco Torres-Navarro poses a significant threat to our communities, and we won’t allow New York to be a safe haven for dangerous noncitizens,” said Thomas Brophy, the director of enforcement removal operations for ICE’s Buffalo field office.

He is being held at a federal detention facility near Buffalo pending an immigration hearing, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said. Ortíz Ubillús is being held at a processing center in Pennsylvania, according to ICE’s Online Detainee Locator System.
