Organizer of Bandera Family Christmas Dinner suffers stroke, GoFundMe created

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The organizer of a charitable holiday event is in need of help from the community he supports each and every year.

Bill Bandera is the President and CEO of the Bandera Family and Community Alliance and the organizer for the annual Bandera Family Christmas Dinner. For the last 34 years, Bandera and his family have fed those in need on Christmas and given them a place to call home for the holidays.

On August 8, Bandera suffered a stroke while working in Cleveland, Ohio. He is currently receiving care at the Cleveland Clinic and is expected to make a 100% recovery.

On his road to recovery, Bandera will undergo physical and occupational therapy. To help with the cost of treatments, a GoFundMe has been set up for him. Organizers have set a goal of raising $15,000.
