BATTLE CREEK, MI - Amtrak provides vital rail service across Michigan, operating 10 trains daily through its Blue Water, Pere Marquette, and Wolverine routes.

These routes connect Michigan cities to major destinations such as Chicago, Detroit, East Lansing, and Pontiac, playing a key role in regional transportation.

According to Amtrak, at the end of fiscal year 2023, Amtrak served 23 stations in Michigan, with Ann Arbor being the busiest, recording 136,431 riders.

According to Amtrak, on the other end of the spectrum, Albion was the least used station, with just 2,044 riders.

Located on the Blue Water route, Albion’s low ridership contrasts sharply with the more frequented stations, such as Kalamazoo and East Lansing, which saw nearly 98,000 and 70,000 riders, respectively, according to Amtrak.

Albion’s limited ridership highlights the variability in station usage across the state, influenced by factors such as location, population, and proximity to major routes.

Despite being the least used, Albion’s station remains a critical link for the local community, offering an alternative travel option and contributing to the connectivity of smaller Michigan towns.
