(ATLANTA, Ga.) Mother’s Day is around the corner and you don’t want to be caught getting last minute gifts or scrambling to make plans to make mom feel special.

While there are still parts of life that have “returned back to normal,” your typical Mother’s Day celebration may not be an option this year. Typical things like spa dates or traveling may be postponed as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, however, there are still ways to go above and beyond for the moms in your life.

In addition to a phone call, thoughtful card or social media post, there are things that you can do around the city of Atlanta that are both safe and memorable.

1.Take mom for an afternoon tea service at Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead. The service features a collection of organic loose leaf tea, pastries and sandwiches. There will also be a live harpist performance.

    2. Brunch anyone? You can’t go wrong with bottomless mimosas and a brunch buffet that mom will love. Visit Park Tavern for a Mother’s Day Brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the brunch is held on the restaurant’s covered patio and in the garden tent and features two interactive chef stations.

    3. A mother’s job is never done, but for the holiday weekend, the Georgia Aquarium is providing relaxation for all mothers. Enjoy a discounted admission on May 12 and let mom view her favorite sea animals and kick her feet up.

    4. Stop and smell the flowers at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Enjoy a nice stroll through the Gainesville garden followed by a brunch at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. The garden will also feature a rose show that weekend with an assortment of cut-flowers as well as on-site rosarians to answer any questions.

    5. Play ball or play catch with mom at Truist Park! After the Braves take on the Phillies, fans and their moms can head out on the field for a 20-minute game of catch. This is a fun and unique way to spend the holiday as well as get active for a few minutes!

    6. Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Chastain Park Springs Arts & Craft Festival. The festival will be ongoing for the weekend and will have a children's area, plentiful food options and musical performances. Best of all, the festival is free for everyone!
