In a remarkable display of courage and quick thinking, Deputy Warner of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office came to the aid of two struggling boogie boarders near Daytona Beach. Deputy Warner's swift response included shedding her uniform to reveal a swimsuit underneath, allowing her to promptly assist those in distress.

The incident unfolded as Deputy Warner, a dedicated member of the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, was on patrol along the Daytona Beach coastline. Her vigilant eye caught sight of two boogie boarders in dire straits, prompting her to take immediate action.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Deputy Warner wasted no time and swiftly called for assistance. Her preparedness for emergencies became evident as she revealed that she had been wearing her swimsuit beneath her uniform, a decision that proved critical in the ensuing moments.

Deputy Warner, a seasoned lifeguard in addition to her law enforcement duties, was not alone in her valiant rescue efforts. Two other individuals joined her, forming a team committed to aiding the struggling boogie boarders. The entire dramatic rescue was captured by a dashboard camera, offering a firsthand view of the heroic actions that unfolded on that fateful day.

Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of Deputy Warner and her team, all individuals involved in the incident emerged from the ordeal unharmed.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office wasted no time in sharing the gripping in-car video footage of the rescue on their official Facebook page. Accompanying the video was a caption emphasizing the importance of being prepared for such situations:

"The advantages of wearing your swimsuit under your uniform: Today, Deputy Warner spotted two boogie boarders struggling in the ocean off Daytona Beach and headed in for the rescue along with lifeguards from Volusia County Beaches. Great job all!"

Volusia County, situated in the east-central part of Florida between the St. Johns River and the Atlantic Ocean, boasts a rich history. Established on December 29, 1854, after being carved out of Orange County, it derives its name from the community of Volusia, located in the northwestern part of the county.

Volusia County plays a pivotal role in the Deltona–Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach metropolitan statistical area and contributes significantly to the larger Orlando–Deltona–Daytona Beach Combined statistical area.

Sheriff Michael J. Chitwood leads law enforcement efforts in Volusia County. Born in November 1963 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sheriff Chitwood continues the legacy as a second-generation law enforcement officer.

While Volusia County is renowned for its world-famous Daytona Beach, it has also earned the reputation of being the "shark bite capital of the world." Additionally, New Smyrna Beach, located just south of Daytona Beach, remains a focal point of shark activity.
