    Police Investigating Fire that Killed 81-year-old Orange Resident

    ORANGE, Va. – Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a December 4 fire that left an elderly man dead.

    According to a media release issued by VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has requested the VSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation Culpeper Field Office to investigate the fatal fire.

    The fire occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m., at a residence along the 6500 block of Browning Road.

    A resident of the home, Elmer Corbin, 81, died at the scene due to his injuries.

    Mr. Corbin’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Manassas for an examination and autopsy.

    The cause and origin of the fire is undetermined, but the fire does not presently appear suspicious in nature.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
