Photo/Brian Smith Faith Community Rehab and Nursing Center of_cials spoke to Jacksboro Lions about what they do for the community. Administrator Jacey Brittain explained the different types of therapy done and the ways things are completed. The facility has a capacity of 104 beds but only has about 40 people right now. Under the direction of Director of Therapy Julie Kidd the center offers physical, occupational and speech therapy. Physical therapy helps the individual focus on their strength as well as getting the level of function back. Occupational therapy’s misconceptions among the general public who thinks that it’s for people who are injured on the job, Brittain noted. It’s actually teaching people how to function daily with cooking, cleaning and simply to help with daily functioning. Speech therapy helps with cognition, memory and understanding. People can learn to talk again with the help of computers. Speech therapy can even help with the strengthening throat muscles to help people who can’t speak well do better. “We have lots of activities for our residents,” Brittain said. “We want their lives to be ful_lled.”
