(NEXSTAR) – While not quite as flashy as Usher’s futuristic roller-rink jacket — or even his bare, glistening chest — Reba McEntire managed to make a fashion statement of her own at Super Bowl LVIII.

The “Fancy” singer took the field on Sunday to perform the “The Star-Spangled Banner” while wearing a large, attention-grabbing accessory: a big honkin’ belt buckle. But it wasn’t just any belt buckle; it was her father’s championship belt buckle from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).

As McEntire told Drew Barrymore prior to Sunday’s game, she chose to wear accessories that had special personal meaning.

“I am wearing my daddy’s … 1961 championship belt buckle and my momma’s bracelet,” McEntire told Barrymore.

How much do Super Bowl halftime performers get paid?

Her father’s belt buckle, however, appeared to be a little older than McEntire had advertised. As seen in photos, the buckle read, “Rodeo Cowboys Assn. 1957/Clark McEntire/Worlds Champion Steer Roper.”

To be fair to McEntire, her father Clark McEntire did win the Steer Roping World Championship in 1961, after winning it back-to-back in 1957 and 1958. He was also inducted into the National Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1988.

It’s likely that McEntire, though, has more than a few honkin’ belt buckles to choose from. As she explained to Barrymore, she also earned herself a buckle from the PRCA after performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the National Finals Rodeo in 1974. (It’s also the same one she’s seen wearing on the cover of her 1984 album “My Kind of Country.”)

“This ain’t my first rodeo!” McEntire remarked of the 1974 performance in an Instagram post she shared Sunday. “I’d never have imagined when I sang the anthem at the National Finals Rodeo 50 years ago that I’d be singing it today at the Super Bowl.”

Why can’t NFL players show their legs during games?

Fans, meanwhile, heaped praise on McEntire after Sunday’s rendition of the national anthem, both for her performance and her buckle — even if it wasn’t quite as flashy as Usher’s chiseled chest.

“Total class act, with dad’s buckle & her mom’s bracelet,” one fan wrote on Instagram. “You rocked it girl!”
