Ovy on the Drums Announces New EP Release

Coming from very modest roots, top Columbian music producer, Ovy on the Drums worked his way to the top.  He spent 25 weeks at the top spot of the Latin Producers chart since 2020, which is the third longest reign in history.

It is hard to imagine that just 15 years ago, Ovy was selling party supplies and had no idea what he wanted to do with his life, he just knew he needed to find a passion.

According to an interview with Billboard , Ovy credits a friend of his cousin for allowing him to find his passion. A simple offer to install the digital audio workstation called FL Studio sparked an interest in producing beats.

"From that moment, my life changed.  Look, I even have the (company's) fruity logo tattooed.  I didn't know what a melody was, I didn't know anything (about making music), but when he showed me that program, that was where I, Daniel Eschavarria Oviedo (his given name), discovered a new planet."

That new planet has brought him much success and connections with different musicians.  Considered as the secret weapon for Latin superstar Karol G, Ovy on the Drums has produced and written hits for artists like Bad Bunny, Anuel AA, Maluma, MicroTDH, Bryant Myers, Becky G and more.

This year started off with more accolades for the producer and songwriter.  Ovy won his first GRAMMY for Best Musica Urbana Album for producing 13 out of the 17 songs on Karol G's "MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO" album. This pairs with his 2023 Latin GRAMMY alongside Karol G for Album of the Year and Best Urban Music Album.

Now, in collaboration with Puerto Rican superstar Myke Towers, Ovy on the Drums is gearing up to release his first EP "Cassette 1" on March 14.

Given his recent hits like "Cairo" by Karol G, "Piscina" by Maria Becerra, "Gangster" by Quavo and Yandel, and "Ghetto Princess" by Bad Gyal and Ryan Castro, fans can certainly look forward to chart topping music.

After years of creating music for some of the industry's biggest faces and also cultivating emerging talent, Ovy represents the new wave of Latin music artists who are blurring genre lines and achieving crossover success.
