Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson addressed reports that some of his most valued hardware would be put up for auction on his Instagram page, threatening legal action against Texmax Auctions for listing several high-profile items on an event entitled "Adrian Peterson Final Auction."

Several reports surfaced on Wednesday that several NFL trophies that Peterson earned over a 15-year NFL career would be involved, including the Most Valuable Player Award from the 2012 season. Peterson vehemently denied that his "personal items" would be on the lot, leading to his potential lawsuit.

"An estate sale company without my authorization included some of my trophies in a sale, despite clear instructions to leave personal items untouched," Peterson said in an Instagram post captioned "FALSE STORY!"

"I did not authorize the sale of my trophies and I will be taking legal action. Trusting the company without supervision was my mistake. We allowed them to go into several of our storage units with clear instructions. They clearly did something unlawful."

Peterson further denied rumors of financial woes brought about by the listings, vowing to never off his NFL accomplishments.

"I want to emphasize that I am financially stable and would never sell off my hard-earned trophies or personal sports items," Peterson said. His agent Denise White told TMZ Sports that she has made "several attempts to make contact with the company to fix the issue ... but (has) not heard back."

As of press time, the Peterson auction (which runs through Feb. 29) is still up on Texmax's site . Bidding is open for items such as athletic apparel, game-worn jerseys, and housewares but a lot on the 2007 Rookie of the Year Award is still open. The auction portfolio of Houston-based TexMax claims that the LLC specializes in estate auctions, business asset liquidation, industrial auctions, and warehouse auctions with plans to expand into overstock soon.

Peterson, 38, is one of the most accomplished rushers in recent NFL memory, amassing 14,918 yards on the ground (fifth-most in league history). He spent most of his career with the Minnesota Vikings (2007-16) and last played with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021.
