In her Amazon documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told showcasing her personal journey to love, Lopez got vulnerable and pulled back the curtain on calling off her wedding to Affleck in 2003 just three days before they were sent to say, “I do.”

"Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding," J.Lo recalled in the film. "We had a big wedding planned—14 ushers and bridesmaids—and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure."

Affleck agreed with J.Lo’s statement citing a lack of privacy being the biggest contributing factor to the couple’s big break. Heartbreak hit hard for both after the public split, Lopez shared just how hard by saying she not only lost her lover, but her best friend.

"For all those years, it was really hard because I didn't just feel like I lost the love of my life, I felt like I lost the best friend that I ever had," she reflected. "And I couldn't talk for so many years, and that was the hardest part."

While their time apart lead both to other marriages and having children, they both believe their paths were always meant to cross again. "I feel like I came out the other side," J.Lo concluded of her years apart from Affleck. "I've made it through. I've made something good of my life. I'm proud of that."

Lopez and Affleck shocked the world when they rekindled their romance in 2021 and took a second chance at love with one another with an engagement in 2022 and wedding shortly after.
