Co-writing 13 of the 14 tracks the 33-year-old dug deep into the depths of her healing journey to uncover what many are calling her best work yet. Tapping into the hummingbird’s symbolism for new beginnings, hope and good luck, Pearce found freedom to write her story.

“The last few years have been a season of loss and growth, of healing and happiness,” Pearce shared in a statement on social media. “A belief that if I did the inner work, I would rebuild myself stronger than I was before, and a knowing that I have done some living and will always be unapologetic about it. These 14 songs incapsulate my confidence that there is light on the other side of darkness and my true love of Country music.”

Fans are getting a taste of what’s to come with the release of the title track, “hummingbird,” today, which was one of the last songs Pearce wrote for the album that she says was the missing piece all along.

“When I wrote ‘Country Music Made Me Do It,’ I was like, ‘This is the title of the album,’” she told Billboard of the song she released last summer. “’hummingbird’ was one of the last songs I wrote for the record and it was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is what it was meant to be the whole time…’ It’s kind of my little bluegrass moment.”

Pearce is all-in on the project as she even got a new tattoo to commemorate the album she hopes will inspire others currently in the depths of their own healing journeys.

“When you hear this album — Wherever you are on your journey, I hope it shows you that pain can be a lesson that shows you just how strong you are and what you truly deserve,” she explained. “That we can all find the ‘hummingbird’ in the midst of whatever we’re going through.”

hummingbird will be available June 14. Hear the title track below.
