Cody Johnson Shares Inexplicable Reason Why Top Song Isn't On Country Radio

Cody Johnson is one of country music's biggest and brightest stars. His sound harkens back to that of true country, before pop and "bro" country took over the airwaves. In fact, some have said he is on his way to becoming this generation's George Strait.

One of Johnson's most beloved songs, "Dear Rodeo", is one that resonates with the hard working athletes of the industry, the ranchers and farmers who religiously follow the sport and the entire western culture that has used it as an anthem for their way of life.

However, that same song, perhaps his top hit, isn't on country radio.

Johnson, himself, explained why.

"I just got told a couple weeks ago that my song 'Dear Rodeo' was and I quote, 'too rodeo for radio.' Because apparently the word 'rodeo' reminds people of cruelty to animals," said Johnson according to K102 Country Radio .

The fact that a song that has the word "rodeo" in it is unable to be played on the airwaves because it's offensive to a very small, and I can't stress this enough, VERY small portion of the population is almost unbelievable.

Meanwhile, pop, rock and rap songs praise violence, drugs, crime and a host of offensive obscenities that children take in every day.

However, a song merely mentioning the word "rodeo", a song with values praising a wholesome culture, is not allowed in this day and age.

As Lori Lee O'Harver of Bronc Riding Nation put it, "When the illegitimate voices of the non-animal loving animal rights agenda bleed over into shaping what music a radio station plays, it's time to find a new radio station."
