Green Day 's Billie Joe Armstrong recently welcomed some special "Celebrity Skin" to the stage while performing a few intimate gigs with his cover band, The Coverups , in London.

Singer and guitarist Courtney Love joined Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day ’s cover band, The Coverups , while they were in London for two scheduled shows , performing a number of songs with the group over both nights -- including Hole ’s 1998 hit, “Celebrity Skin.”
During Tuesday night 's set at The Garage in Highbury, North London (February 27), Love joined the band for their versions of Cheap Trick 's "He's a Whore" and "Surrender," as well as the Tom Petty classic "Even The Losers." On Friday night at the 100 Club (March 1), Courtney returned to help again on "Surrender," as well as David Bowie 's "Suffragette City," and her own '90s Alternative classic "Celebrity Skin."
Love couldn't contain her excitement being back on stage during the first night, hinting to the crowd that she would soon be returning with her band. “My name is Courtney Love – you may not remember me. I’ve been living in a cave in Birmingham for about nine years,” she said as she took the stage. “We’ll give this a f***ing try, right?” Before leaving, Love dropped the bomb adding, “Later… I’ll be back in Hole,” leading Billie Joe to proclaim, "I told you it was going to be a special night!"
Catching up with NME on the red carpet ahead of presenting the Best British Group Award at the 2024 BRIT Awards , Billie Joe spoke of his involvement with Love, revealing it was a text exchange that prompted their recent live collabs. "It was great... we got to do ‘Celebrity Skin’ – a Hole song – and the whole room freaked out,” he explained. "We’ve known her since ’94, she’s always great! She’s a wild woman, she has a lot of great stories and I love Courtney... She’s definitely like a rock n’ roll-er in herself. She’s got her sea legs back so we’ll maybe be hearing more from her."
Though there is no further information about what she has in store, Love told The Guardian back in 2019, “There’s nothing wrong with honoring your past. I’ve just kind of discovered that. If you don’t, people will rewrite history and you will become an inconvenient woman,” regarding the possibility of an official Hole reunion. The band hasn’t performed together since a brief reunion in 2012, and the core line-up has officially been on hiatus since 2002.
