    Abby Peters to serve as Farm-City chairman

    The Pike County Farm-City Committee met on February 26 at the Pike County Extension Office.

    As a matter of old business, the membership discussed the 2023 Farm-City Taste of Pike County banquet/dinner. The committee deemed the banquet/dinner a success as determined by the attendance and the enjoyment of the dinner.

    Nominations were opened for the position of chairman and Abby Peters was nominated and will serve as chairman. Peters appointed Debra Davis as secretary.

    The State Farm-City Awards Luncheon was announced to be held April 11 at the Auburn University Conference Center. The deadline for ticket orders is March 20.

    The committee members were in favor of asking Christopher McVay of First Cahawba Bank to serve on the Farm-City Committee.

    A discussion was held about purchasing a digital camera for the Pike County Extension Office to be used for Farm –City and other projects throughout the county. A recommendation and budget for the camera will be submitted and partial funding for the camera will be sought.

    The theme for Farm-City 2024 is “Our Community Counts on Farmers.

    A proposed Farm-City Calendar of Events will be discussed at the next committee meeting which will be at 4 p.m. March 19, at the Pike County Extension Office.
