Shania Twain is getting her own Barbie doll to celebrate International Women's Day

Shania Twain is being recognized by toy and entertainment company, Mattel and receiving the ultimate trophy — a personalized Barbie doll.

Mattel named the Country icon one of Barbie’s 2024 role models in recognition of her never-ending mission to empower women through her music and philanthropy. As part of the honor, which centers around International Women’s Day (March 8) and Barbie’s 65th Anniversary (March 9), the company is creating and styling a new doll inspired by one of Twain’s most iconic looks.

In a recent social media post, Twain can be seen admiring her very own doll which sports a top hat, thigh high boots and long coat inspired by the outfit she wore in the music video for “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” in 1999. While the look from the video is iconic in itself, Twain says it stands for so much more as the song and video were a large part of her finding confidence in her womanhood.

As reported by Billboard , Twain explained the video was meant to be a celebration of coming into her own and encouraging other women to do the same.

“[It’s] the joy of getting in touch with your self courage, and saying, ‘I’m not afraid to be myself.’ That’s why I wrote the song in the first place,” she explained. “I was really starting to come into my own, not as a confident female, but I was just starting to feel confident in my female body. I was very self-conscious before that in all of my youth.”

The song has continued to resonate with women for 25 years and will surely continue for another 25+ along with many more in Twain’s catalog that speak to the power of women — a message that aligns with Barbie’s mission.

“I have my own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll!! Pinch me!!” Twain said in response to receiving her very own doll. “All I've wanted to do my whole life is tell stories of empowerment, independence and self-expression through my songwriting, getting to do that and inspire women and girls along the way is the dream... everything else is a beautiful bonus! It means a lot to expand my responsibility as a role model into the Barbie world, thank you Barbie and Mattel for creating this reflection of me. I love her!!”

While not available for purchase, the Shania Twain Barbie will forever be a part of history along with eight other selected role models from 2024 including Kylie Minogue , Helen Mirren and Viola Davis in addition to honorees from past years.
