"Just Mercy" Actor Visits Stillwater. -David Garlock

After a speaking engagement in Emporia, Kansas, David Garlock recently visited Stillwater, Oklahoma, and met with advocates, non-profit leaders, and local candidates for elected office in Stillwater and Tulsa.

David is a formerly incarcerated client of Bryan Stevenson with the Equal Justice Initiative. David is a Criminal Justice Advocate and re-entry expert. David was sentenced to 25 years in Alabama for taking the life of his sexual abuser and was released on parole in 2013 after serving more than 13 years. After being released, David earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern State University.

David has also used his voice to reinstate Pell for the incarcerated, geriatric parole, and abolishing the death penalty. David also served as the Lancaster Program Director for New Person Ministries, a re-entry program for those convicted of sexual offenses. David is also a board member of the National Association of Rational Sex Offense Laws.

David traveled the country speaking at different conferences and Universities and even presented virtually at Langston University during Covid. Discussing different criminal justice issues, problems, and solutions was a delightful time. I would highly encourage any professors looking for a speaker to invite Mr. Garlock to your school, and he has presentations on many topics! Oh, and be sure to ask him about the filming of "Just Mercy"!
