Jets 'A Joke' If Team Allows Rodgers to Run For Vice President

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is never far from the headlines, and now, his name is again being thrust into the spotlight—but not through his own doing.

The New York Times reported that Robert F. Kennedy has Rodgers and actor and Governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura on his shortlist for running mates as he looks to make his presidential bid.

With the life of an NFL player tough already, Rodgers adding being vice president is likely a bridge too far as there would be no way that he could do both...right?

FS1's Chris Broussard says that if the Jets allow Rodgers to run for vice president and play quarterback, they are a joke of a team. He also states that if Rodgers does, in fact, help Kennedy, then Justin Fields looms as a good replacement.

"The Jets are a joke if they let this dude run for vice president and be their quarterback,” Broussard said on First Things First . “Now what they need to do is sit down and talk with him and if he really is going to be the VP, then that’s where I was serious about the Justin Fields stuff, that’s where it matters. They should go after Justin Fields if he’s not going to be there."

Rodgers is still relatively new to New York as he only managed four snaps in Week 1 last season before his Achilles injury. Now, with the Jets looking to finally start to get a return on their investment in the 2024 season, is there a chance that Rodgers could walk and pursue Kennedy's presidential campaign? Possibly.

But in doing so, the Jets would again be without a quarterback, which is why Broussard's thought of Fields makes for an intriguing prospect.

While all of this is just speculation, and as Broussard stated, we will find out in a "few weeks" if anything will come of it, it appears that once again, the Jets are in a rock and a hard place when it comes to their quarterback situation.
