Speaking of essential wardrobe staples… Have you heard that one of Michael Jackson ’s “Thriller” jackets from 1983 is available to purchase?

Yes, you read that correctly. The red jacket with black trim, red lining, ribbed shoulders and collar, stud fasteners, belts to the waist, and sleeves, is available via an online auction.

Per the item’s listing, while the jacket is not the particular article worn by the singer during the shooting of the “Thriller” video, it “was used by Jackson in promotional events," and "is still an incredible item." Agreed.

Originally owned by Jackson’s manager Frank DiLeo from 1983 to 1989, then sold at Sotheby’s in 1993, MJ’s jacket was previously auctioned in 2011, just two years after his death, and sold for $1.8million to Texan gold trader Milton Verret . Who shared he intended to use the jacket to raise money for children’s hospitals around the world.

Now, in 2024, the pristine piece of cultural and musical history is once again available for bids until April 12 via the ‘Gotta Have Rock and Roll’ memorabilia site.

Listed as having an estimated sale value of $300,000-$500,000 (easy mistake, what they meant was PRICELESS), Jackson's jacket has a minimum bid set for $100,000.
