A shooting at a park in Golden Valley left several injured in what police believe was an isolated incident.

Golden Valley police officers were dispatched to reports of gunshots fired at Lions Park, 151 Louisiana Ave N, Golden Valley at around 4 a.m. April 7. According to Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green, officers found a male juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threating injuries.

According to Green, Brooklyn Park police officers later reported finding two males in Brooklyn Park with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

In one case, Brooklyn Park Police responded to the area of Regent Avenue and Brookdale Drive north for reports of someone having been shot in the leg. According to an emergency alert, police found the victim and determined the victim had gotten a ride from a friend after sustaining the gunshot wound to the leg. The victim’s injury was non-life-threatening.

Police say attempts were made to gather further information but neither the victim nor the friend offered any details.

“This appears to be an isolated incident, and there are no outstanding suspects or threat to the neighborhood,” Green said. “We are actively working with Brooklyn Park Police Department and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office investigators, who are currently leading the investigation.”

The police ask that anyone living near Lions Park with ring cameras or other outside cameras contact the Golden Valley Police Department if they captured anything that can assist law enforcement during this investigation.
