Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office said an Amazon driver found the body of a 73-year-old man floating in a pond Friday in Circleville.

The Pickaway County Communications Center received a 911 call around 3:18 p.m. from an Amazon driver who reported a human body floating in a pond at 23561 Smith-Hulse Road, Circleville, according to a press release from PCSO.

When deputies, detectives, and medics responded to the scene, they located a man identified as 73-year-old Louis M. Menduni Jr. in the pond. Menduni was removed from the pond and pronounced dead at the scene by Williamsport EMS.

Detectives said it appeared that Menduni was mowing grass around the pond and slid backwards into the water. The mower was recovered from the pond by Scioto Valley Wrecker Service, according to the PCSO.

Dr. John Ellis the Pickaway County Coroner responded to the scene.

Menduni’s body was sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed.

This case is under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Hafey thanked Williamsport EMS, WADES Fire Department, Southwest Pickaway Fire Department, and the Scioto Valley Wrecker Service for their assistance at the scene.
