As you might have heard, Drake and Kendrick Lamar are in the throes of an intense and seemingly never-ending diss track rap battle, and thing’s really heated up over the weekend. But, before we get into the madness that went down Friday-Sunday, let’s recap everything that’s gone down so far.

Last time we spoke, we were determining where the Kendrick and Drake beef truly began. And the general consensus was that the embers that started the The Great Rap Beef of 2024 flame, began when Drake awoke the beast in Kendrick after dropping the J. Cole assisted, “First Person Shooter,” on October 31, 2023. A track he reportedly originally wanted Lamar to feature on as well.

From there, Lamar really set off this particular chapter on March 22, 2024, firing shot with his verse on the Future and Metro Boomin track, “Like That,” dismissing any “Big Three” claims that link himself with Drake and Cole.

In response, Drake dropped “Push Ups” on April 13, not only taking aim at Lamar, but to all haters in general, and Rick Ross , leading to a back and forth between the two, that as of now is still a one off for Ross.

Less than a week later, on April 19, Drake’s next attempt was the since-deleted track, “Taylor Made Freestyle,” on which he used the A.I.-generated voices of Lamar’s idols Tupac and Snoop Dogg to go after him — earning a cease and desist from Shakur’s estate.

Which brings us to last week, April 30, when Kendrick reloaded and dropped back to back diss tracks, starting with “euphoria,” his six-minute opus dedicated to absolutely eviscerating Drake on Tuesday, followed by “6:16 in LA” a few days later on Friday May 3, and that’s where we left off.

On the Jack Antonoff produced track (which the possible meaning behind deserves its own private investigation), Kendrick claims to have operatives inside Drake’s label, rapping, “Have you ever thought that OVO was working for me? / Fake bully, I hate bullies / You must be a terrible person / Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it.”

That same day, Drake finally dropped a response, releasing the nearly 8-minute long “Family Matters.” Rapping about how Lamar’s child was actually fathered by his manager Dave Free , and focused in on Lamar’s relationship with fiancée Whitney Alford . Making claims of infidelity and abuse, “You the Black messiah wifing up a mixed queen / And hit vanilla cream to help out with your self-esteem / On some Bobby s***, I wanna know what Whitney need” and “When you put your hands on your girl, is it self-defense ’cause she’s bigger than you?”

By the time Saturday came around, Kendrick already had a response, putting out “Meet the Grahams.” And don’t let the quick turnaround fool you, just like Kendrick’s previous tracks, it was methodically thought out, and equally as brutal.

Continuing on the theme of coming for each other’s families, Kendrick addressed Drake’s son Adonis , rapping that he’s sorry Drake is his father. And while on the topic of children, Kendrick also made claims that Drake has a secret daughter. So obviously Drizzy, did as he usually do, and hilariously responded on IG, writing, “Nahhhh hold on can someone find my hidden daughter pls and send her to me… these guys are in shambles 🤣🤣🤣.”

Lamar also circled back to add in a few more jabs about alleged cosmetic procedures, rapping, “Get some discipline, don’t cut them corners like your daddy did / F*** what Ozempic did / Don’t pay to play with them Brazilians, get a gym membership.”

Then once again, giving Drake zero respite, not even 24 hours after releasing “Meet the Grahams,” Lamar had more to say with “Not Like Us.” In it, he makes hazardous accusations against Drake, with lyrics like, “Certified Lover Boy, certified pedophile.”

“Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young / You better not ever go to cell block one,” and “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A-minor.” Also circling back to Drake’s use of A.I. to recreate Tupac’s voice on “Taylor Made Freestyle,” Kendrick raps, “You think the Bay gon’ let you disrespect Pac, n****? I think that Oakland show gon’ be your last stop, n****.”

So, in response to Kendrick’s second round of back-to back disses, Drake dropped “The Heart Part 6,” a play on Lamar’s ongoing single series, “The Heart,” on which he hits back with direct responses to Lamar previous allegations.

Claiming that he intentionally fed false information to people in hopes that Lamar would unknowingly use it in a track, Drake raps, “The one’s that you’re getting your stories from, they’re all clowns… We plotted for a week and then we fed you the information / A daughter that’s 11 years old, I bet he takes it / We thought about giving a fake name or a destination / But you so thirsty, you not concerned with investigation / Instead you in Advantage Studio, it's a celebration / You gotta learn to fact check things and be less impatient.”

Drake also goes on clap back, stating, Lamar’s songs are “trauma for your own confessions” and shuts down incendiary claims, by directly saying, “I never been with no one under age.”

Well folks, that’s the latest — and as it seems like there’s no end in sight. So see you next time, when the inevitable next move is made.
