WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – In a significant step toward improving emergency healthcare services in Polk County, hospital leaders, local government officials, and business community members gathered on Thursday, May 9, 2024, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new AdventHealth Winter Haven ER.

Located at 6945 Cypress Gardens Boulevard, just a short drive from the LEGOLAND Florida Resort, the new facility boasts a nearly 20,000 square-foot structure with 24 exam rooms. These include specialized rooms such as a resuscitation room, a bariatric room, an isolation room, and rooms tailored for obstetrics and pediatric care. The ER is designed to offer swift and efficient triage, with two triage rooms positioned near the lobby to expedite patient processing.

The AdventHealth Winter Haven ER is equipped with comprehensive diagnostic tools, including lab services, X-ray, CT, and ultrasound scans. Additionally, a helipad constructed behind the ER will facilitate critical patient transfers.

Tim Clark, president and CEO of the AdventHealth Polk Market, emphasized the organization's commitment to meeting the growing healthcare needs of the Winter Haven community. "We've closely listened to the needs of Winter Haven's community, recognizing their desire for convenient, whole-person care," said Clark. "This ER is just the first phase of our broader plan to expand emergency care and healthcare facilities in the area."

The project represents a nearly $37 million investment and is expected to create over 30 new jobs, bolstering the local economy. The site, spanning 42 acres, not only accommodates the new ER but also has space planned for a full-service hospital and a medical office building.

Winter Haven Mayor Nathaniel J. Birdsong, Jr. highlighted the importance of the new ER during the ceremony. "Winter Haven is one of the fastest-growing cities in Polk County, and indeed in the nation. We need top-tier medical facilities like the AdventHealth ER to keep pace with our growth," said Mayor Birdsong.

The construction was managed by Robins & Morton, with more than 30 local trade contractors and vendors involved, contributing to substantial local employment and economic activity. Todd Watson, Division Manager at Robins & Morton, expressed pride in the project's completion. "This facility will have a lasting, positive impact on our community, and we are grateful to AdventHealth for trusting us to deliver a project that supports their mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ," said Watson.

The AdventHealth Winter Haven ER, a department of AdventHealth Heart of Florida, is set to begin receiving patients by the end of May 2024, promising a new era of enhanced emergency medical care in Winter Haven.
