Ted Leonsis was breaking some news in his appearance on The Sports Junkies Tuesday: the Mystics’ games on June 6 and June 7 are being moved from the Entertainment & Sports Arena to Capital One Arena so more fans can get a look at Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark.

“On June 7th, Indiana is coming to town with Caitlin Clark, and we’ve moved the game from ESA to Capital One Arena. There are some (seats) available downstairs in the VIP area, we just opened those up, but that's gonna be very exciting, probably our first total sellout of a WNBA game at Capital One,” Ted told the Junkies. “And, because of the Olympic year and the compressed scheduling, we have a game on June 6 against the Chicago Sky, who drafted Angel, so we're gonna move that game to Capital One Arena as well. We'll have first time ever back-to-back WNBA games at Capital One. I think it’s gonna be really cool, and we’ll release the news and the tickets later today for that event. It's really a big deal for the league and for us to have back-to-back games at a 20,000-seat arena.”

Clark went No. 1 overall to Indiana, but Reese, who is from Baltimore, was available at No. 6 for the Mystics, who went with UConn’s Aaliyah Edwards instead.

“The passionate people would say she's from Baltimore and she had a great college career, but I really believe in our general manager Mike Tebow and staff that's been scouting,” Leonsis said. “Connecticut has a great, great program, and they felt that with the lineup that we have and the players that we have, we needed to not have a player that plays a similar position. So I think we've done the right thing, but time will tell; the young players, you don't know what kind of effect they'll have on the team and the league and how long it'll take.”

They’re hopeful that it’s not long with Edwards.

“She'll probably be playing a lot of minutes. She has some unique skills; she can shoot the ball, passes very well, and she's very aggressive and does all the little things well,” Leonsis said.

Oh, and one player that Leonsis isn’t interested in bringing to DC? Bronny James, who is likely to be a second-round pick somewhere.

“No. We’d be interested in Bronny if the scouts and the folks said he'd be a big part of our team going forward, but not under the assumption that LeBron would come and play for your team for a couple of years,” Ted said. “That would be off strategy.”
