Six professional women feeling the need of an outlet from the monotony of home, school, and church life, the necessity of helping youth outside the classroom and the urgency of becoming involved, as a group, with Civic activities, met in the home of the late Pauline Fisher on February 29,1963. Thus, the Fine Arts Club came into existence.

Charter Members at the time were: Pauline Fisher, Leola Booth, Ruby Bassett, Geraldine Wiley, Millie B. Davis and Coring Harper. With great respect to all that started this journey, have completed their journey and left their legacy to finish the journey.

Part of the club’s purpose is to promote cultural and educational opportunities for the community. Each year scholarships are awarded to several graduating seniors from area high schools. The club motto “Lifting As We Climb” was chosen as the club’s inspiration to help others.

The color’s blue and white were selected as the club’s colors.

In 1981, we presented our first “Little Miss Fine Arts Revue”, which was a huge success. The pageant is our major fundraiser, which allows us to award scholarships.

Our first scholarship was awarded to Ozenia Banks in the amount of $40. The pageant has held on strong, allowing the Fine Arts Club members to provide four $1,000 scholarships. Two to Atlanta, one to Queen City and one to Linden-Kildare. This year we were only able to provide three scholarships. One to Atlanta, one to Linden-Kildare and one to Queen City.
