The Rotary Club of Lake Oswego awarded four members of the Lake Oswego Police Department — including a K-9 — with $1,000 each during a meeting Monday, May 20.

The Rotary honored officer Bryan McMahon and his K-9 named Chase for work they did to capture thieves during an episode last April. Meanwhile, detective Nicole Palmeri and officer Ryan Leslie were recognized for their work to arrest those who were allegedly involved with human trafficking at Flora Spa earlier this year.

Rotary President William O’Neill also announced that funds from the Rotary’s lobster feed will go toward supporting the empowerment of young women through education, economic development and fighting human trafficking. The 40th annual lobster feed will be held June 15.

“There is a statement that Paul Harris (Rotary founder) was very famous for. His statement and quote he made was ‘Service above self is the key to a fulfilling life.’ I want to thank all four of you for that,” O’Neill said at the meeting.
